It’s Okay to Move at Your Own Pace. Life Isn’t a Race. Daily Hug Quote |Day 17

Life loves neat timelines. Graduate by this age. Build a career by that one. Have kids, keep it together, glow while doing it.

And if you’re an ADHD mom, it can feel like you’re constantly flipping pages out of order.

You might be in a chapter where everyone else seems to be “ahead.” Or maybe they’re rereading old pages while you’re still figuring out what this chapter is even called. And somewhere in the middle of all that, there’s the pressure—from society, from social media, and from yourself—to be further along by now.

But life doesn’t unfold in straight lines. It unfolds in chapters. Some are fast-paced and full of action. Others are slow, quiet, repetitive, or confusing. Some chapters are about growth. Others are about survival. And a few are just about getting through the day without losing anyone’s shoes.

Having ADHD means your chapters may not look like the ones in the “expected” storyline. You may revisit lessons. Pause longer. Rewrite plans halfway through. That doesn’t mean you’re doing life wrong—it means you’re doing it honestly. It’s okay if this chapter isn’t about achievement. It’s okay if it’s about healing, adjusting, learning, or simply staying afloat. It’s okay if your pace doesn’t match the one you thought you’d have by now. You are not late to your own life. You are exactly where this chapter needs you to be—even if it’s messy, loud, emotional, or unfinished. Especially then.

And here’s the thing no one tells ADHD moms enough: You’re allowed to move through life in a way that works for your brain, your family, your season. You don’t have to rush a chapter just because others are already on a different page.

So if today feels slower than you expected, gentler than planned, or heavier than usual—let it be that kind of chapter. It still matters. You still matter.

You’re not behind. You’re just in a different part of the story.

Just a little hug from me to you
