Sick Days & Side Projects

Well… looks like the viruses have officially moved in. First big brother went down, and now the rest of us followed right behind. Today I’m home with little sister while my husband is at work. He’s not exactly feeling great either, but since he works outdoors this week, at least he’s not spreading germs to anyone else. Small wins.

Coughing, runny noses, and yes—fever too. So we’re filling the day with all the cozy things: blankets, the fireplace, and crafts.

My little one has warmed up in a bath, made approximately 20 beaded bracelets, and completed every puzzle she owns. And yes… this all happened before lunch.

While she’s in full creative mode, I’m trying to make progress on my own puzzle project. It’s a big one—a 55 x 55 cm chessboard. The original piece is actually a Ludo board on one side, but of course I decided it also needed a chessboard on the back. Because why not. It’s a large wooden board that will eventually hang on the wall.

And since I clearly don’t have enough projects going on, I’m also considering starting a new hobby: wood turning, so I can make the actual chess pieces myself. Sounds fun, right? I mean… how hard can it be? (Famous last words.)

After big brother finishes the part of school that is, you know, mandatory, we’ll pick him up and bring him home for more rest and cozy time. I’m guessing a movie night is in our future too.

All in all—sick, slow, and very snuggly. And honestly? That sounds pretty nice!
